CETAF Members
The CETAF consolidates a vast array of European taxonomic expertise and taxonomic research capacity, especially in systematics and biological diversity. The CETAF is, collectively, the leading voice for taxonomy and systematic biology in Europe.
The institutions that belong to CETAF are the keystone of our Consortium: 33 members, representing 59 individual institutions from 21 European countries. CETAF members represent the leading Natural Science Museums, Natural History Museums, Botanic Gardens and research centres from across Europe which curate, host and manage biological collections and engage in taxonomic research.
The resources of each of our individual member institutions, in terms of their collections, research facilities, and their scientific, curatorial and technical staff, are our common assets. CETAF member institutions contain, jointly, half of the world's biological collections and hold specimens of over 80% of the described species. CETAF member institutions dedicate themselves both to the preservation of this rich heritage, as well as to the promotion of it through scientific research and public outreach.
As a Consortium, CETAF aims to develop new tools, secure taxonomic capabilities and competences, create joint platforms and channels of knowledge flows, and exploit new opportunities. We achieve this through an integrated approach to information provision and training, both of which are important drivers for our Members.
Members of CETAF have the capability and willingness to network and collaborate with each other within the context of the Consortium, and beyond. Membership of CETAF is thus granted to individual institutions of relevant importance or to associations of institutions influential enough to take a stance on national and global policy issues.
If your institution is interested in becoming a member of CETAF, we invite you to check the application requirements and documents.
