Event review: Infoday MSCA 2016 calls
On 16th November 2015, the CETAF Secretariat attended an information session on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) 2016 call for proposals. The event was organised by the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO), the Fund for Scientific Research – FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS) and the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO).
First, a short overview of the MSCA was presented. Then, detailed presentations were given on two schemes: the Innovative Training Networks (ITN) and the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE), followed by a Questions & Answers session and a presentation on the existing support services for the applicants. After a break, previous beneficiaries were invited to present their projects and how they made their way through the application process.
The Marie Curie Actions are best known as funding schemes for individual researchers. Yet, the (quite recent) RISE programme opens the door to non-scientific staff from different sectors to receive funding for training, skills development, and knowledge exchange. These actions are an opportunity for CETAF, for its members, and for its personnel, to initiate exchanges of staff with other organisations through international and inter-sectoral cooperation.
